Where Neglect Meets Renewal: My Patio’s Feng Shui Story

Restoring my patio’s energy: a shift in space and spirit.

There was a moment not long ago when I realized my patio - a space that once felt like an oasis - had started to feel heavy.

Forgotten.

I’d let it go untouched, and every time I looked into it, I would feel a twinge of guilt.

My neighbor has her patio adjacent to mine that radiates beauty. Clean, cared for frequently, alive with fresh decor. It quietly inspired me - her space held a certain joy and presence that I knew my own needed.

And yet, there’s a quiet irony to it all. When I first moved here in 2023, it was my small act of adding lights to my patio that first inspired my neighbor to transform hers! Over time, her oasis blossomed while mine fell into neglect. Hence, in 2024, it was her patio’s beauty and care that sparked my own return to this forgotten corner.

In Feng Shui, my patio sits in the Kun Gua - the sector tied to love and relationships. This is the energy of earth, grounding, and connection. I couldn’t ignore that any longer. If I wanted to uplift my own relationships and build into my career as a Consultant, I needed a fresh restart.

So early July 2025, two new patio chairs later - with color - meshing beautifully with new decor - has shifted the energy. The air feels different. I actually see myself unwinding in the evening after a long day meditating and taking in the new energy. Summer or Fall, I see myself frequenting my outdoor space with much more love. This open energy feels like it is embracing me in gratitude.
